hello
Welcome
A Small Farm With Big Ideas
Our philosophy at Cottage Farm is all about quality and not about quantity, we are not the biggest farm in Bedfordshire and are technically a smallholding, but we don’t let that hold us back.
For us, the story started 10 years ago when we bought our first few Hebridean Sheep from a farm in Kent. Over the years we have grown our flock and now sell lamb boxes during our “season” in September and October, this is when our hogget is at its prime. This approach echoes our belief in quality because a matured well-hung piece of meat cannot be compared with a commercial Lamb fattened fast and killed at six months which is probably what you’d buy in a supermarket.
We also believe in nose-to-tail butchery and respect all the animals we prepare for consumption by striving not to waste any part of their carcass. Similarly, we believe in eating food when it’s at its prime and therefore, seasonality is engrained in our thinking.
Finally, we believe in collaboration which works hand in glove with our passion for finding local (low food miles) products. We are currently working closely with producers in a 10 miles radius of our location. We will enhance our offerings with those of like-minded producers based close to us and bring top quality and unique products to our customers.
